Support
A one-person studio, so the answer comes from the person who wrote the code. Most questions are below; anything else, write and you will get a real reply.
Reach a human
Say what you expected and what happened instead. If it is about the alarm, say whether sound was still playing at the time — that decides which of the two paths was in use and is usually the whole answer.
Email support@riceroodcatsproduct.comThe alarm did not go off
QuietNight reaches you in one of two ways, and which one depends on whether sound was still playing when the alarm was due.
If sound was still playing, the app is awake and raises the sound itself, ignoring the ring/silent switch. This is the only path the slow rise can use.
If nothing was playing, iOS has suspended the app and a notification does the waking. It follows your ringer setting like any other notification, and it cannot ramp. Check that notifications are allowed in iOS Settings › QuietNight › Notifications, and that Focus or a Sleep schedule is not silencing them.
Both are armed every night. The Alarms screen states which one applies under "How the alarm reaches you". The surest setup is to leave a sound playing, with the sleep timer off or long.
The sound stops when I lock the phone
It should not — background audio is the whole point. Check that a sleep timer is not running (the transport bar names it), and that Low Power Mode or iOS's own Background App Refresh restrictions are not shutting the app down. Pulling out headphones stops playback deliberately, so the room is not blasted at 3 a.m.
What is free, and what Plus adds
Every one of the twenty sounds is free, unlimited and permanent. No sound is ever behind the paywall, and there are no adverts in either tier.
- Free also includes: unlimited mixing, four built-in scenes, one scene of your own, three designed scenes a month, the sleep timer, background playback, and the last seven nights of the journal.
- Metered on free: ten alarm wake-ups per calendar month, counted once per scheduled occurrence and reset on the first. The Alarms screen shows the count and the reset date.
- Plus adds: unlimited scenes, designs, night reviews, wake-ups and saved mixes, plus the full journal history. $2.99 a month, $9.99 a year, or $14.99 once. No free trial.
Restoring a purchase
Settings › Restore purchases, or the Restore button at the top right of the Plus screen. It works on any device signed in to the same Apple Account, and it works offline once the entitlement has been seen. If a purchase went through but Plus is not active, restore first, then write to us with the date — do not buy it twice.
Subscriptions are managed by Apple: iOS Settings › your name › Subscriptions. The $14.99 lifetime unlock is a single payment and has nothing to cancel.
"Describe tonight" is not working
It needs a connection; everything else in the app does not. If it says the allowance is spent, free accounts get three a month and the screen shows the reset date. If it says the server could not be reached, nothing was sent and nothing on your phone changed — try again later.
You can turn the feature off completely in Settings, which also discards the anonymous session it uses. See the privacy policy for exactly what it sends.
A sound is distorted, or a mix is too loud
Every sound is level-matched and the mix is limited, so this should not happen from version 1.1 onwards. If it does, tell us which sounds were on, roughly what levels, and whether you were on the speaker, headphones or something over AirPlay. That combination is what we need to reproduce it.
Where my data is
On your phone. There is no account, no analytics and no sync. The journal can be exported or erased from the Nights screen, and deleting the app removes everything. The full detail is in the privacy policy.
